Crimson Editor
I’ve been using Crimson Editor for a number of years now, it’s an open source alternative to something like Notepad and for editing HTML and PHP files I’ve found it invaluable, it’s really lightweight, quick to load and provides a lot of nice features.
One feature I found today, that I didn’t even know it came with and will no doubt use again is the “Search – Find In Files” This feature allows you to specify a root directory and then search for text within files in that directory. Brilliant!

I came across this website years ago http://anonymouse.org/ It was useful for (at the time) getting around work or school firewalls, now however I find it useful for checking public DNS has updated correctly.
